Men step on the moon
On monday 21 July 1969 at 4:17pm two American astronauts landed on the moon
The astronauts were named Neil Armstrong ,the 38year old, and col.Edwin E Aldrin of the Air Force (aged 39) they brought their ship to rest on a level rock strewn plain near the sea of tranquility
About six and a half hours later Armstrong opened the hatch and declared these words "that's one small step for man and one giant leap for mankind"
President Nixon rang Neil and Buzz Aldrin to congratulate them for representing America they replied " thank you Nixon that really touched all our hearts and we will never forget that"
Neil described the moon as sandy and soft like a fine charcoal powder, when he stepped down he described a crator it was a foot deep and a purple underlay.
